The Opportunity
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming part of everyday work across the Caribbean. Employees are increasingly using tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and other AI-powered applications to draft correspondence, summarize documents, generate content, conduct research, analyze information, and support decision-making.
While AI presents significant opportunities for productivity, innovation, and economic growth, many organizations are adopting these tools without the governance structures, policies, workforce readiness, and leadership guidance necessary to support their responsible use.
The challenge facing Caribbean organizations is no longer whether AI is being used. The challenge is whether organizations are prepared for its use.
What We Are Observing
Based on emerging patterns across the region, organizations appear to fall into three broad categories.
Group 1: Limited or No AI Adoption
Organizations that have not yet embraced AI or are actively restricting its use.
Group 2: Informal AI Adoption
Organizations where employees are independently using AI tools, often without formal policies, governance structures, training, or organizational guidance.
